Four people died in a crash after fleeing police at up to 100 mph in San Joaquin County.
San Joaquin County’s Lathrop Police Services deputies began a pursuit of a black sport utility vehicle after trying to stop the vehicle about 11:30 p.m. Sunday. The driver was suspected of driving under the influence, authorities said.
The driver would not pull over and fled from officers, driving erratically on eastbound on Roth Road at about 70 mph, authorities said. As the driver traveled in French Camp northbound on McKinley Avenue, he lost control.
The SUV rolled more than once, ejecting the driver. He died at the scene.
Two passengers, a male and a female, also were pronounced dead at the scene. Another female passenger was transported to the hospital, where she died.
An investigation will be conducted by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office and the California Highway Patrol.
Names of the dead were not released pending notification of family.
