Two people were arrested Halloween night at a Kings Beach motel, accused of felony drug offenses and child endangerment.
James Robert Walker, 46, of Vallejo and Evelyn Rene Hudson, 54, whose place of residence was not given, were taken into custody at a motel on North Lake Tahoe Boulevard. Placer County Sheriff’s deputies, during a search of the motel room, found a large amount of drugs and a sleeping 6-year-old child, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
Hudson is the child’s guardian, sheriff’s officials said.
A deputy initially observed Walker acting suspiciously near restrooms in the Coon Street boat launch area about 9 p.m. Walker, a parolee, was searched and methamphetamine and marijuana were found in his pockets, sheriff’s officials said. The subsequent search of Walker’s motel room turned up about 10 pounds of marijuana and about 9 grams of methamphetamine, as well as indications of drug sales and paraphernalia, according to the news release.

Walker and Hudson were taken to the Placer County Jail in Auburn, and the child was taken into protective custody. Walker’s bail was set at $260,000 and Hudson’s bail, at $60,000.
