El Dorado County sheriff’s deputies are investigating suspicious circumstances involving a couple who were found with serious injuries at their Diamond Springs home Wednesday morning.
Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Tom Murdoch said the department received a 911 call at 8:43 a.m. from an unidentified woman who said she and her husband had been held hostage since before midnight. She said they were both injured and that she couldn’t get up.
At that point, Murdoch said, the woman stopped talking and sounded like she was having difficulty breathing.
When deputies arrived at the home in the 500 block of Arlette Lane, they found the 80-year-old woman lying on the living room floor and her 92-year-old husband elsewhere in the house. Murdoch said both appeared to have serious injuries and were transported to Marshall Hospital in Placerville.
He said investigators are at the residence trying to determine what occurred.
