A fire at an Arden Arcade home that apparently had no working smoke alarms caused an estimated $120,000 damage early Thursday.
Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District crews responded just before 3 a.m. to the 3400 block of Kevin Court for a report of smoke coming from a residence. They arrived to find the fire primarily in the attic and extending into a bedroom, according to a Fire District news release.
An older woman was able to get out of the house before firefighters arrived and was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not fire-related, officials said.
No firefighters were injured.

Fire officials said that cause of the fire has not been determined, but they said there appeared to be no working smoke alarms in the home. They remind residents who have not changed the batteries in their smoke alarms recently to do so, and to test the alarms monthly. Officials recommend changing batteries when resetting clocks at the at the beginning an end of daylight saving time.
