A motorcyclist was killed late Friday afternoon when his motorcycle rear-ended a vehicle on the connector from westbound Highway 50 to northbound Capital City Freeway.
The crash occurred about 4:50 p.m. California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer Michael Bradley said two motorcycles were reported traveling at high speed, weaving in and out of traffic on westbound Highway 50 When they entered the connector to the Capital City Freeway, one of the motorcyclists struck the back of a Kia Rio, Bradley said. The motorcyclist died of injuries suffered in the crash.
Bradley said he had no information on the other motorcyclist, who was not involved in the crash. He said it has not been determined whether the motorcyclists were racing each other.
The occupants of the Kia were not injured, Bradley said.
The Highway 50-Capital City Freeway connector was closed into the early evening for the crash investigation.
