A Sacramento man died of injuries suffered Saturday when his sport-utility vehicle ran off the side of the road and down a levee embankment in Yolo County.
Brad Carper, 53, of Sacramento was driving southbound on South River Road near County Road 142 around 7 p.m. Saturday at 70 to 80 mph, according to a witness interviewed by the California Highway Patrol.
Carper’s Nissan Pathfinder drifted off the east edge of the road before he overcorrected, according to the CHP. Turning the steering wheel back to the right caused him to lose control and veer off the west side of the road, overturning down the levee embankment.
Carper and a passenger in a rear seat were ejected from the vehicle. One passenger suffered scrapes and scratches, and a second suffered a lacerated spleen, according to a CHP press release.
