Driver safety education classes for teenage drivers and their parents will be offered by the California Highway Patrol’s East Sacramento Area office starting this month.
Start Smart classes are scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 19, May 17, June 21 and July 19 at the 11336 Trade Center Drive in Rancho Cordova.
The program is intended for prospective and newly licensed drivers ages 15 through 19 and their parents or guardians. The two-hour sessions will cover collision avoidance, driver responsibility, distracted driving laws, alcohol-related driving laws and the provisional license process. The program also offers participants an opportunity to ask questions of CHP officers.
Parents or guardians can register for a class by calling (916) 464-1450. Officials say space is limited.
