A 30-year-old man was shot and killed early Saturday in a Lodi neighborhood, another in a string of recent homicides in this city of 62,000 south of Sacramento, police said.
Lodi police got a report around 12:30 a.m. Saturday of a man shot on South Main Street, according to a Facebook post by the department. The victim, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said on Facebook Saturday evening that detectives were investigating but no arrest had been made.
In January, two other young men were shot to death within 24 hours in the San Joaquin County community. And in February, a 74-year-old woman was found stabbed to death in her Lodi home.
On Jan. 24, Lodi officers responded around 2 p.m. to gunshots in the 700 block of South Garfield Street and discovered a wounded 20-year-old male. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The following day around 4:30 a.m., a man, 27, was shot to death about a half-mile away in the 500 block of East Oak Street while sitting in his pickup outside his home before work.
Police arrested Edgar Corrales, 20, of Sacramento, and a 16-year-old Lodi youth in connection with his death. At the time, police said both suspects are affiliated with local street gangs.
The woman, Dorothy Wiederrich, was found by a relative bound and stabbed to death.
