A sixth person has been arrested in the January shooting death of a man outside a South Lake Tahoe motel.
On May 20, law enforcement officials in Oklahoma City arrested 26-year-old Dion Jermaine Vaccaro, a former Solano County resident and alleged participant in the slaying of 40-year-old Dennis Wright in the Beverly Lodge parking lot, according to a South Lake Tahoe Police Department news release. A warrant had been issued for Vaccaro’s arrest, charging him with murder and he was extradited from Oklahoma to El Dorado County on Tuesday, police reported. He remains in custody in the El Dorado County Jail.
Four other people have been arrested and charged with murder in the case and another person has been charged as an accessory to murder. Those facing murder charges in addition to Vaccaro are Tevarez Lopez, 33, of Georgetown; Domenic Randolph, 22, who was arrested in Harris County, Texas; Tristan Batten, 18, of Vallejo; and Harvest Davidson, 20, of Antioch. Vanessa Muzio, 18, was arrested in February in New Mexico and is charged with being an accessory to murder.
Wright and his girlfriend, Kendra Ghiorso, both of Amador County, drove to South Lake Tahoe about 7:45 p.m. Jan. 30 to sell 100 pounds of marijuana to prospective buyers, according to police. During the transaction, two men tried to rob Wright and Ghiorso at gunpoint of cash involved in the drug deal, police said.
Police say the investigation is continuing and additional arrests are expected.
