Citrus Heights police are seeking the vehicle and driver involved in a midnight collision that critically injured a pedestrian Sunday.
The hit-and-run incident occurred about 12:07 a.m. on Greenback Lane at Birdcage Street. Witnesses told police that a westbound vehicle on Greenback Lane struck a pedestrian who was crossing Greenback against a red pedestrian crossing signal.
The vehicle pulled to the right side of the road immediately after the collision but left the scene moments later, according to a police department news release.
The pedestrian, a 39-year-old man, was transported to a local hospital.
The vehicle is described as a green sedan, occupied by several people in addition to the driver. It was last seen heading west on Greenback Lane from Birdcage Street. Police said witnesses reported that it may have front-end damage.
