A public hearing will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday to discuss whether 48 acres of undeveloped land should be moved from Twin Rivers Unified School District boundaries to the boundaries of Sacramento City Unified.

The property, which will be called McKinley Village, is bounded by Interstate 80 to the north and west and Union Pacific Railroad tracks to the south and east.

The property is closer to elementary and middle schools in Sacramento City Unified than to Twin Rivers Unified schools, according to information from a county committee. If approved, students from future housing developments on the property could attend schools closest to where they live.

The petition to transfer the property was submitted jointly by the districts.

The meeting of the Sacramento County Committee on School District Organization will be held at Kit Carson Middle School in the Sacramento City Unified School District. The school is at 5301 N St.

Last month the first public hearing was held at Woodlake Elementary School, 700 Southgate Road, in the Twin Rivers district.
