American River College interim leader moves to state office

Gov. Jerry Brown has appointed Pamela Walker, interim president at American River College, as vice chancellor of academic affairs for the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office.

Walker, became interim leader at American River earlier this year, will take the new job in August. Annual compensation will be $120,000.

Previously, Walker was vice president of student services at American River from 2006 to 2014 and served as associate vice president of instruction during the two preceding years.

In May, the board of the Los Rios Community College District named Thomas Greene the new president of American River College, effective in August.

Greene, a former Sacramento City College administrator, served as vice president of academic affairs and student services at Lake Tahoe Community College. As American River president, he will be paid $169,340 a year during his initial two-year contract.
