After months of discussion, the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors on Wednesday approved a contract for airport taxi service for the same company, Sacramento Independent Taxi Owners Association.

Supervisors voted 5-0 to go with a recommendation from county staff to continue to contract with SITOA at Sacramento International Airport. A panel of airport experts reviewed contract proposals from SITOA and Yellow Cab and unanimously picked SITOA.

Greg Thatch, an attorney representing Yellow Cab, objected to the selection because it was discovered SITOA's proposal contained an error. SITOA neglected to include a charge for the first mile traveled.

Still, county officials said SITOA's proposal was still less expensive, even with the adjustment for the mileage error. Under the agreement, the county Airport Department will get up to $2 a ride from airport fares.
