American Airlines will offer new nonstop service from Sacramento International to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport beginning June 2.
American Airlines last served the Sacramento to O’Hare nonstop market in the summer of 2004, according to Sacramento County airport officials.
The airline will first reintroduce two daily nonstop flights for the peak summer season. Then, daily nonstop service will continue on a year-round basis beginning in mid-August.
The addition of the American Airlines service means that passengers will have a choice of six daily nonstop flights to and from Chicago. The flights, spread throughout the day, include American’s service, United Airlines’ nonstop to O’Hare and Southwest’s nonstops to Chicago’s Midway Airport.
Never miss a local story.
“Chicago-O’Hare is an important global hub airport for both American Airlines and United Airlines,” said airports director John Wheat. “The addition of this service by American Airlines is a testament to traffic growth in our market.”
Passengers can book flights on American’s new service beginning Saturday afternoon, according to officials.
