The public will have an opportunity to purchase used government vehicles from several national forests through the annual Used Vehicle and Equipment Auction to take place online Feb. 1-8.
Twenty-three items, including pickup trucks, SUVs, crew carriers and miscellaneous ATV parts and tires will be sold to the highest bidder through an auction on the General Services Administration website, www.gsaauctions.gov.
“The online vehicle auctions are improving the efficiency of our fleet management programs,” Laurence Crabtree, forest supervisor of the Eldorado National Forest, said in a written statement. “People also have an opportunity to look at the the vehicles ahead of time, so they are ready to put in their bids during the auction.”
Beginning Feb. 1, people can find information about auction items from the Eldorado, Tahoe and Inyo national forests on the GSA website by entering the sale number 91QSCI-16-040, without the dashes, on the web page. The sale number will not be effective on the website until Feb. 1.

Potential bidders can inspect the vehicles in the auction at three locations from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 1 through Feb. 5:
- Eldorado National Forest facility, 2350 Carson Road, Placerville: Seven pickup trucks will be available for viewing. Two of the trucks have major problems – one has a blown engine and the other won’t start – and must be towed, according to a Forest Service news release. Other vehicles include a van, two SUVs and four crew carriers, as well a miscellaneous ATV parts and tires.
- Tahoe National Forest facility, 12019 Charles Drive, Grass Valley: Five vehicles, including two SUVs, two pickup trucks – one with accident damage and a bent frame – and one crew carrier can be viewed at this location.
- Inyo National Forest facility, 798 N. Main St., Bishop: Three vehicles – two pickup trucks and a crew carrier will – be available for viewing.
