Say "hasta la vista, baby" to those other cities, says Arnold Schwarzenegger -- Columbus, Ohio, is the place Republicans should be.
The former California governor, bodybuilding champion and actor has written the Republican National Committee to urge them to place the convention in Ohio's capital.
He explained how, in 1970, he began hosting a bodybuilding competition there because of his ties to a local promoter. He has continued to have events there, and found "Columbus has been an extremely successful location."
Schwarzenegger, who has been active in Republican politics, lauded Columbus as having "an open, smart, collaborative spirit that makes it unlike anywhere else."
Columbus made it presentation to the GOP's site selection committee Monday. Seven other cities, including Dallas, Kansas City, Phoenix, Denver, Cincinnati, Las Vegas and Cleveland, are also vying to host.
A final decision is likely later this summer.
