The White House, site of lavish, elegant gatherings, uber-important decision-making and for so long a symbol of greatness, vision and leadership, is ... a ... “dump”?
Apparently, that’s what President Donald Trump says.
The president, whose taste runs more toward, gilt, ostentatious design and stuff that’s “huuuuge,” is quoted in a Sports Illustrated article as telling his buddies, “The White House is a real dump.”
The statement, denied by a Trump representative, according to the article posted at Golf.com, came as the article detailed the president’s affinity for Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J., where he established a de facto “permanent campaign rally site,” according to the story by Alan Shipnuck that is published in the Aug. 7 edition of SI.
The long story is a study of the president’s relationship with golf, and the reference is buried deep therein. It nonetheless has gained some traction, and the alleged statement has generated reaction.
