Why President Donald Trump’s Twitter page was briefly deactivated
From government updates to “covfefe” and more, President Donald Trump is very active and very popular on Twitter.
However, for about 11 minutes, Trump’s social media forum, which has more than 41.7 million followers, was inadvertently silenced. During that short window, anyone who searched for Trump’s account instead saw “Sorry, that page doesn’t exist!”
Earlier today @realdonaldtrump’s account was inadvertently deactivated due to human error by a Twitter employee. The account was down for 11 minutes, and has since been restored. We are continuing to investigate and are taking steps to prevent this from happening again.

According to a post by Twitter Government, an employee with the site accidentally shut down the president’s account.
“Earlier today @realdonaldtrump’s account was inadvertently deactivated due to human error by a Twitter employee,” the post reads. “The account was down for 11 minutes, and has since been restored. We are continuing to investigate and are taking steps to prevent this from happening again.”
