A Fresno County man who campaigned for governor this year is sought by Fresno County sheriff's deputies in the shooting of his neighbor and a horse Thursday afternoon.
The victim was taken to Community Regional Medial Center with a stomach wound and the horse died at the shooting scene.
A Fresno County sheriff's spokesman said it is believed the shooting came as a result of a dispute between neighbors. A witness said Champ pulled out a handgun and shot the victim and then shot a horse that was in a pasture.
Champ is sought on charges of attempted murder, felony child endangerment and felony animal cruelty. The spokesman said the child was standing near the victim when the shooting took place.
