Blessing of the Animals
The annual Blessing of the Animals is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 1455 E. Yosemite Ave. in Merced. All animals are welcome, but must be leashed or in crates. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call (209) 383-0632.
‘Rimers of Eldritch’ play
Performances of “The Rimers of Eldritch” by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lanford Wilson are planned at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, as well as Oct. 10 and 11, at the Mariposa County Park Amphitheater, 5100 Bullion St. Another show is planned at 2 p.m. Oct. 12 Admission is $12 for general seating, or $10 for seniors and students. ALS challenge at Elks Lodge
An ALS ice bucket challenge will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Merced Elks Lodge, 1910 M St. in Merced. Donations on behalf of Mike “Booger” Dragovich will benefit those who have ALS.
