A California National Guard Black Hawk helicopter drops water on the fires east of Yountville in Napa County on Friday, Oct. 13, 2017. Cal Guard sent more than 2,000 aviators and ground personnel to support Cal Fire and the other firefighting agencies combatting the Northern California fires that are still burning.
The Bear Fire off Bear Canyon Road and Deer Creek Road in Boulder Creek (Santa Cruz County) is now 271 acres and 5 percent contained. Evacuations and road closures in place. This is the view at noon Tuesday near the 800 block of Bear Creek Canyon.

Fountaingrove Golf and Athletic Club employee Phil Carson filmed his arrival at the Santa Rosa property just days after the North Bay fires consumed many parts of Sonoma County. Petaluma Firefighters Local 1415 posted raw video as Petaluma Fire Department Engine 9384 rolls into Coffey Park in Santa Rosa when the devastating fire first moved into the neighborhood last week. This engine company was eventually pushed out and overrun by the blaze. Petaluma Fire Engine 9384 along with Santa Rosa Fire and Windsor Fire departments, however, were successfully able to protect and save over 20 homes on Banyan Street, San Miguel and the Holley Park area.
