An apartment fire in Parkway neighborhood of Sacramento sent two people to the UC Davis Medical Center with smoke inhalation Wednesday morning.

The fire started at 7:30a.m. inside an upstairs apartment at 96 Creeks Edge Way, and the fire stayed contained to the apartment that it started in, said Roberto Padilla, spokesperson for the Sacramento Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, and neither an accident nor arson can be ruled out until it is investigated further, Padilla said.

The apartment has serious smoke damage and holes were cut in the roof to release smoke but it is not damaged beyond repair, he said.
