Fire crews are cleaning the last remnants of the fire that swept through El Dorado and Amador counties last week, destroying 20 homes and 47 outbuildings.

The Sand fire, which burned 4,240 acres, is now 95 percent contained and 75 fire personal remain at the site, according to a report Friday by Cal Fire.

The fire broke out on July 25 and is blamed on a vehicle igniting dry vegetation. More than 1,200 people were evacuated as nearly 1,500 firefighters battled the blaze at its height.

Full containment is expected on Saturday, but patrols will continue in the area for several days.
