A fire that broke out late Thursday in El Dorado County reached 75 percent containment after a helpful combination of firefighting efforts and favorable, humid weather conditions.
The fire started in the Somerset area close to Bucks Bar Circle and Buckaroo Trail around 4:50 p.m. Thursday, said Brice Bennett, a spokesman for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Fire crews contained 35 percent of the fire by Thursday evening.
The Buckaroo fire has remained stable at 25 acres and as of Friday evening was 75 percent contained. Light rainfall in the area Thursday night helped keep the flames at bay, according to Cal Fire.
The cause hadn’t been pinpointed, but Bennett has said lightning may have sparked the fire.
No structures had been damaged.
