A fire in an apartment complex in Rancho Cordova early Friday morning left eight units destroyed and displaced up to 20 people.
Firefighters responded to the two-alarm fire around 3:30 a.m. in an apartment complex at 3441 Data Drive, across from Capital Center Drive, in Rancho Cordova. The fire spread through eight units causing an estimated $500,000 worth of damage, according to the Metropolitan Fire District.
Most of the destruction was caused by fire, water damage or a combination of both. A roof reportedly collapsed in at least one of the units, officials said. About 18 to 20 residents have been displaced because of the fire, according to Metro Fire.
No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
