  • Video: Sacramento firefighters save house from Valley fire in Middletown

Sacramento Fire Department firefighters helping out at the Valley fire were able to save a house on Sunday in the small community of Middletown where other residences were destroyed. The firefighters worked in the dark to break through a fence and extinguish a burning awning and roof. They also removed burning debris and fencing from the area close to the home. A photograph in daylight (shown in frame before beginning of video) shows the house still standing thanks to the mutual aid effort provided by the Sacramento crew. Numerous homes and an apartment complex burned to the ground in Middletown, which is between Lower Lake and Calistoga. - Bill Lindelof | Sacramento Bee
