A person was killed in a residential fire early Saturday in Jackson.
The Jackson Fire Department reported that the fire occurred in the vicinity of Water and Summit streets, near the center of town. The fire destroyed the residence as well as a nearby commercial building, and caused minor damage to a second commercial building.
The victim’s name wasn’t released pending notification of next of kin.
The fire was reported at 3:24 a.m.

Officials said Cal Fire and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were working with the Fire Department on the investigation.
