Two apartments in a Marconi Avenue complex in Carmichael suffered exterior damage in a fire late Monday afternoon.
The fire in the 4900 block of Marconi was reported about 5:30 p.m. It started on the patio of a downstairs unit and spread to the exterior of an upstairs unit, said Capt. Michelle Eidam, spokeswoman for the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire before it caused any major damage to the interior of the apartments. The upper unit sustained minor damage inside and the ground-floor unit suffered no interior damage.
The fire-damaged apartments are in a four-unit building, and Eidam said residents of all four units have been displaced.
One person reported suffering burns but refused medical treatment, she said.
Fire officials estimated the fire damage at $80,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
