Some parts of the Sierra saw a dusting of snow, and a few raindrops fell in the Sacramento area Tuesday as a late season storm passed through the region.
Sacramento International Airport reported traces of rain, said Idamis Del Valle, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, but most of the area remained dry.
Light snow was reported at higher elevations such as Blue Canyon in the Sierra Nevada, but snow was expected to give way to rain during the night.
Although this was considered a late storm, Del Valle said snowfall in the Sierra has been reported into late June during some years.
The high in downtown Sacramento and at Sacramento International Airport was 68 degrees Tuesday, and 69 degrees at Sacramento Executive Airport.
Temperatures are expected to head upward the rest of the week, with a high of 76 forecast in Sacramento on Wednesday, 84 on Thursday, and 91 on Friday. Highs in the upper 90s are expected through the weekend.
In the Sierra, highs in the low to mid 50s are expected Wednesday. The weekend forecast calls for highs in the low 70s.
