Monday brought an end to Sacramento’s record-breaking streak of 47 consecutive days with peak temperatures at or above 90 degrees.
The temperature topped out at 82 degrees in downtown Sacramento, said Karl Swanberg, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. The last time the downtown high was less than 90 degrees was June 27.
Two more days in the 80s are expected, with a high of 86 forecast for Tuesday and 89 on Wednesday, Swanberg said. Overnight lows are expected to be in the upper 50s and low 60s.
The previous 40-day streak was recorded in 1992, from July 13 to Aug. 21.
Never miss a local story.
Highs are expected to return to the 90s Wednesday and continue through the weekend.
