There’s a slight chance of showers predicted for Thursday in Sacramento but the more ominous part of the forecast for Sacramento is a possible change that could bring smoke into the Valley on Friday.
Smoke has been visible this week on the west shore of Lake Tahoe, a product of the nearly 71,000-acre King fire burning near Pollock Pines. The El Dorado County Air Quality Management District issued a Wildfire Smoke Advisory on Wednesday.
So far, Sacramento has been immune to poor air quality from the wildland blaze. But blue skies may disappear on Friday as a change in the weather is being forecast.
A weak weather system will move across the north state Thursday, bringing a few drops of rain as far south as the Northern San Joaquin Valley, according to the National Weather Service.
However, on Friday, the low pressure system exits to the east and winds are projected to shift and drive the smoke from the King fire down into the foothills and possibly into the Valley.
