Temperatures in the Sacramento area are forecast to drop to normal July levels over the weekend, with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms in the mountains, forecasters said.
Favorable Delta breeze conditions today will cool down the Sacramento area, according to the National Weather Services. Temperatures should remain in the upper 90s throughout the weekend and into next week, forecasters said. A high of 96 is expected for Friday and 94 degrees for Saturday.
Some rain and thunderstorms are possible this afternoon in the northern Sacramento area, especially in the mountains, according to the NWS.
Into next week, temperatures are predicted to stabilize with highs in the upper 90s and lows in the 60s during the early morning hours. Forecasters predict the temperatures will edge toward the 100 degree mark.
