The Sacramento region will get a good dose of sunshine and increasing heat this week, with high temperatures expected to reach into triple-digit territory, forecasters say.
On Sunday, the high temperatures will reach about 92 degrees, but a sharp rise in heat is expected beginning Tuesday.
“The big story for this week will be the warm-up,” said David Rowe, a forecaster with the National Weather Service in Sacramento.
Cause of the heat wave is a strong ridge of high pressure making its way through Northern California, Rowe said.
