Sacramento reached the triple digits Wednesday, setting a record for the date at one location.
As of 6 p.m., Sacramento Executive Airport had reached 105 degrees, topping the previous record for the date of 102 degrees set in 2011 and 1984, said Travis Wilson, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
The reading for downtown Sacramento was 104 degrees. Sacramento International Airport recorded a high of 103 degrees.
The high recorded in the McClellan area was 102 degrees, and in the foothills Auburn reached 100 degrees.
Century mark readings are expected in Sacramento through Friday, with 106 degrees for today and Friday. Cooler temperatures are forecast for the weekend, with a high of 98 expected Saturday in Sacramento and 94 degrees on Sunday.
Normal highs for Sacramento this time of year are in the upper 80s, Wilson said.
