Damp news for anyone taking part in outdoor celebrations of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday – it’s likely to drizzle all day.
Thunderstorms are possible after 10 a.m., with a chance of small hail and a high near 60 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The rain is predicted to continue into the night and through Tuesday.
By 7:30 a.m. on Monday, .69 inches of rain had already fallen in the Sacramento region, bringing the weekend total to 1.42 inches of rain. January total rainfall has now passed four inches. NWS Meteorologist Jim Mathews said Sacramento has seen more rain this January than in the past four Januarys combined.
Overall accumulation going forward is expected to be a little more than half an inch. Wednesday is forecast to be sunny, but rain is expected to return on Thursday and linger through next weekend.
