A line of showers was spotted early Wednesday morning nearing the northwest coast of the state, a precursor to afternoon showers expected in Sacramento this afternoon.
The National Weather Service predicts that scattered showers, and maybe some thunderstorms, will spread inland by late morning into the northern Sacramento Valley.
Then, computer models indicate showers and thunderstorm chances increase this afternoon in the Sacramento region.
Also, an inch or two of snow is possible late this afternoon, continuing into the evening, in the northern Sierra.
Never miss a local story.
Dry and mild weather is expected Thursday and through the weekend.
