Temperatures in the Sacramento area are forecast to climb no higher than 90 degrees this weekend, but the National Weather Service said the region is on fire weather alert until Sunday.
NWS issued a red flag warning for much of the Sacramento Valley from Saturday to Sunday at 5 p.m., meaning that “critical fire weather conditions are occurring now or will shortly.”
The combination of strong winds, which are forecast to reach as high as 21 mph today, and low relative humidity contribute to increased fire danger.
Friday’s temperature was 86 degrees, one degree below average for this time of year.
The NWS forecasts a high near 89 today. Sunday temperatures are expected to be higher, but winds will not be as strong.
