Re "Health care sign-ups proceeding" (Our Region, Nov. 10): I was waiting for someone to comment about the absurdity of this spin piece, but I guess no one stepped up. California health care sign-ups are proceeding. Not succeeding, but proceeding. "Thousands are enrolling," Covered California Executive Director Peter Lee says in the story. "That is the loud and clear drumbeat that California enrollment is working." But the facts of the article itself reflect differently. Fifteen hundred people showed up in Sacramento to register, and 300 volunteers assisted with paperwork and questions. The result was 10 completed applications. Many turned away due to the long registration process that takes so much to get someone enrolled. "The system is working fine," says Lee. Really?
