Officeholders owe unions for help getting elected

Re "Detroit's financial crisis: Bankruptcy and public pensions" (Forum, Dec. 8): So, Scott Martelle thinks government officials who are very heavily supported by big unions, not only monetarily but also in getting out the vote, should, upon being elected, be expected to control or reduce pensions and benefits for these same unions? In my opinion, the writer is delusional.
