Re "Hollywood has missed Latinos' story" (Viewpoints, Dec. 22): Thank you for printing Ruben Navarette's opinion piece on anglocentrism in Hollywood. How many Americans know that Alfonso Cuaron, a Mexican, directed the third "Harry Potter" film, and co-wrote, co-produced and co-edited the movie "Gravity"? How many Americans know that a Mexican, Guillermo Gonzalez Camarena, contributed substantially to the invention of color television? But anglocentrism in the media is not limited to Hollywood. This past week, the Mexican legislature voted to allow more foreign ownership of the country's oil industry. This violates the Mexican constitution, and there were protests around the country. One Mexican legislator was trampled by a crowd. I couldn't find this story in the news.
