Jobless crisis began years ago - with Democrats

Re "Loss of jobless checks smacks valley hard" (Editorials, Dec. 30): Extending un-employment benefits would help avert an expected economic crisis, but it’s one due to long-term Democratic policies beginning with Democratic control of Congress in 2007. It is unlikely Obama will create millions of shovel-ready jobs in three months. However, Republicans cannot be blamed for a crisis caused by socialist ideology. The jobs situation has remained unchanged since Obama's re-election. -- David Froloff, Sacramento
