Re “County is sued over parkway events” (Our Region, Dec. 24): We all owe a debt of gratitude to the Save the American River Association, both for the organization’s work to create the American River Parkway and for its efforts to maintain a sufficient flow in the American River. But it seems the group does not remember that the parkway is for all of us. The parkway trails and green spaces have traditionally been used for many group activities, and this should be allowed to continue, with some modifications. Rather than closing down these events, it would seem more appropriate to determine the environmental impacts of such activities and propose measures to minimize or eliminate any harm that might result.
