Re "Do-nothing House sets up to sink to new low" (Editorials, Jan. 7): Criticizing Republicans seems to be The Bee Editorial Board’s favorite thing to do. Last year, the House of Representatives sent several bills up to the Senate only to have Majority Leader Harry Reid decide not to bring them to the floor for a vote. He didn’t want some senators to face tough votes that would embarrass them back home. As for unemployment benefits, the GOP House members just want a way to pay for them. The editorial should have included their reasoning. This year there are more new taxes on people. This administration can’t keep taxing just to give money away in entitlements, or we will run out of people to tax. Lift restrictions and lower taxes on businesses, so they can hire more people.
