GOP uses Benghazi as red herring

Re "Al-Qaida's fingerprints are on Benghazi" (Another view, Jan. 7): Rep. Darrell Issa concludes his commentary with what I see as a summary of the GOP strategy to replace American democracy with corporate oligarchy. In the last sentence of his latest bombast, Issa states, "Essential oversight will continue unchecked by partisan criticism and other efforts to mislead the public." The overall strategy of the GOP is to render the essential oversight of Wall Street to continue unchecked. The GOP tries to mislead the public into believing that Republicans are motivated by anything other than corporate greed. The fake Benghazi issue, completely fabricated by the GOP in an effort to discredit Democrats, is a prime example. If Issa can generate enough red herrings like Benghazi, the GOP hopes voters will overlook the fact that rich Republicans own Congress.
