Re “Classrooms still cold while HVAC units idle” (Page A1, Jan. 27): When was the last time you were in a 25-by-20-foot room from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. with 30-plus other occupants and without a proper heating or cooling unit? Think you could concentrate well if the room temperature was under 45 degrees or over 85 degrees? This news article quotes Superintendent Steven Martinez as saying the April installation at Grant Union High School is now put off until after the end of the school year. Once again, teachers and students have to suffer the idiocy of having classroom decisions made by those who never step foot in the classrooms. Does anyone seriously think that trying to teach or learn in a classroom without proper HVAC is less disruptive than a temporary interruption involving the installation of working units? -- Mirna Jope, Carmichael
