Downtown arena will impact Old Sacramento

Old Sacramento business leaders have good reason to fear negative impacts from the construction and operation of a downtown sports arena.
The main issue would be traffic and access to Old Sacramento, followed by the loss of several hundred parking spaces in a business district that already has very limited parking both for customers and employees.
The city and Old Sacramento Business Association has worked hard over the past few years to try to make things better, with discount parking for employees, which is important, because without people operating the businesses, there would be no businesses.
To say traffic downtown will only be impacted at the J St off-ramp from I-5 is ludicrous. Anyone who has to pass through that section of I-5 at rush hour knows what a mess it is and how it impacts all of the other freeways, not just I-5. Traffic will become a nightmare.
