Re "More milestones on pathways to equal rights" (Editorials, Feb. 11): The editorial in The Bee about the advancement of homosexual rights is disheartening, in that it ignores the larger issue.

The methods being used are completely against the democratic principles of our country. The advancement is being done by officials subverting the law with a whether-they-like-it-or-not attitude. It is elitist, oligarchic not democratic.

It is not just this issue, but also those of drugs, guns, immigration, and other laws. Although the causes may or may not be just, the ends do not justify the means. By ignoring and subverting the constitutional powers and duties of each of the three parts of our government, rule by fiat endangers our democracy.
