Sochi ceremony was appropriate

Re "Opening ceremony in Sochi forgot reality" (Editorials, Feb. 11): Can you imagine an Olympics in the United States in which the opening ceremony portrayed our internment of Japanese Americans during World War II, or President Barack Obama's drone attack that decimated a wedding party?

Perhaps you want the next Olympics in Japan to commemorate Pearl Harbor? The Olympics is a place for the host country to show off its best. There is a time and a place to reflect on our past failures, but the Olympics is not it.
