Re "New Sloughhouse Inn proves to be a rustic bust" (A&E, Feb. 16): Blair Anthony Robertson's s trashing of the Sloughhouse Inn was pure meanness.

Even if everything he claims is true, what good did it do to eviscerate people who are making an honest effort? Robertson's consistently negative reviews seem to be the work of an angry man who needs to show everyone that he is the smartest man in the dining room.

Markets determine whether a business survives. A nuclear review was not necessary to speed the process.

If Robertson stood outside the restaurant with a sign warning customers away from what he judged to be sub-par food and service, the owners might have grounds for a lawsuit. First Amendment free press and speech protections aside, I don't see much difference.

Robertson should keep Thumper's daddy's wisdom in mind: If you can't say something nice about somebody, don't say anything at all.
