Olympic commentary misses history

Re "Gold for U.S. pair makes history" (Sports, Feb. 18): I wish the commentators had mentioned this: In 1984, United States ice dancers Judy Blumberg and Michael Seibert had a shot at the bronze medal. They skated to the same piece of music as Meryl Davis and Charlie White, Sheherazade. The Italian judge gave them a 5.5, justifying it by saying that their music wasn't appropriate.
I wonder if Meryl and Charlie's choice of music was a coincidence, or an in your face to the 1984 judge.
